O.o My 1st Post o.O

Hello, ex- fellow ed-iots,

Time passes by very fast and now I'm not one of your ex-co anymore. With the 'O' levels drawing close everyday, all the secondary 4s are preparing and getting ready for the "final battle". After the step down, I feel that there's something missing from my life. My "happiness meter" also fell. However, life's life, life is not always sweet, life is sometimes sour, life has to go on. I accepted that fact so I guess all the secondary 4s have to move on towards another goal. Of course, all the secondary 4s including myself will be missing all our fellow juniors. Perhaps some more than others but I will definitely never forget what I've been through through out the 4 years in English Drama. I sincerely hope to see changes in English Drama; changes for a better good. Here's what I want to say to you all.

Secondary 3s: Life's going to be a little harder for you guys/girls than the others. You'll be the ones who will be holding English drama together. You'll must be strong to overcome challenges from both external and internal cause. Good luck to you all.

Secondary 2s: It's a rather importatnt year for you as this will be the year you choose your subject combinations. Therefore, try your best in both English Drama and your studies. However, this is never ever an excuse to not go for CCA!

Secondary 1s: It's only been less than half a year but I feel that you secondary 1s are very bonded and energetic not to mention, hyperactive. This is essential but you guys must learn to control some of your energy at sometime.(esp. those two whose name I will not speak of ) hope you all will have a happy and enjoyable time in English Drama.

I REALLY never regretted growing up over the years with you guys/girls.
Especially to kak waa and janna, without both of you I never would have gone on this far.

Well, I promise some people that I will upload

There's not much because well... very difficult to catch
EXCO members as we are all running around taking

Anyways, our Prom was held at Orchard Hotel.

This picture actually shows perseverance. The single flower is seen here growing among the rocks and we all know that the conditions present ar almost impossible for the flower to do so!

So hence, people, we must persevere on no matter how many scoldings or how busy we get. ;D

This is one of the first time that I actually felt that we had really got anything done in proper during cca!

So, everyone can give yourself a pat on your back for behaving so good.

Just want to let the lower secondary know that your seniors are very proud you.

Hopefully we can be this productive all the time.

AND like come on!

People, we have to listen to yun xuan and nowelle during cca.

For example, if you have any queries about props/stage stuff, do not hesitate to find them directly.

If those who want to change their lines in the script, please inform kok wee directly during this weekend?

We must take it seriously with whatever they tell us to do with regards to ED.

They are having it tough too yea? :)

In order to get things done easily so we can all go home happily later on,

we MUST SHOW OUR SUPPORT.

Not to forget to listen to your other sec3 seniors as well. hee.

(4) Go up escalator to outside world

(5) Turn left

(6) Walk to nearest bus-stop

-NO NEED TO CROSS THE ROAD

(7) Board a bus service 100

(8) Alight when you see museum, artistic like buildings

(9) Follow path signs

& you are there!

FYI people: you can go back and watch more drama plays during this weekend (16th Aug-17th Aug) but remember to bring your ticket stub, heh.

The lower sec had a discussion today after school.
There were ppl doing set design and proposal writing.
It came out really productive!
& no kidding.
Even I was shocked! :D

SO, there are certain people who turned up,
AND THE FEW WHO DIDN'T.
Those who didnt turn up, shalll be severely dealt with.

It was about 5.30pm+.

After much **digressing in the storeroom,

and having our fan switched off because CDS have to leave,

we decided to do the finishing touches before leaving as well.

It was silent & rather dim, with only the setting sun as a source of light.

We were sweeping the floor when suddenly:

*CREAK* *CREAK* *CREAK*

I was scared out of my wits!

Then there was the jangling sound of metal.

Of course, any person in the right mind would leave the hall right?

We did!

When we came out, the green metal doors facing the toilets moved.

As in, without 'help'.

Kok wee ran away like crazy, out of the hall whereas I,

brisk walked and,

panicked like crazy in my heart :P

Anyway, turned back only to find a man's head staring back at me.

Those beady eyes and all..

They just looked to familiar!

Suddenly I realized.

hey, that's just uncle ah ying.

He's locking up the hall.

A cold wind blew my neck then.

I shudder to think what would happen if kok wee and I were locked in.

around such a crucial timing, you will agree with me.
and you cant help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Anyways, I shall reenact my speech on some Fridays ago
but of course the shortened version
(who wanna see little old me's uber long drone anyways?)

So this year had been like any other year.
Same crap, different people handling it.
There are things we EXCO had tried to do and acheived.
and some, that we didn't.
Due to revolutionary changes going around the school.
We can't do anything much but to go along with the tide.
That's how it is here.
That's the AHS culture.
No questions, just follow.
Or you might just find yourself standing in front
of the school rostrum during morning assembly
apologising for something that you are not
entirely sorry about but still susceptible
to public humiliation so you shame yourself into not doing
it anymore.
A deterrant yes.

Some of you might say 'well, why don't you fight or oppose against it?'
well, our power and influence can only extend this far.
Right now,
us and the rest of the Performing Arts ex-CCA leaders(Like us)
are petitioning against the
'NO CAMPS RULE'
But even we know, we cant do anything much
especially when the teachers support the higher authority.

But besides the failure to adhere to the DRAMA customs,
we successfully tried to suppress the amounts of money
we collected from YOU members
with immense help from our fierce treasurer-VENECIA!
Made some colourful posters credits to ADELINE!
Yeah, and erm...
tried our best to fix the darn DRAMA storeroom door lock.
Apparently, it failed. The new key didn't work.
Bummer.
We intitiated
DRAMA NIGHT-ONE NIGHT STAND 2008.

Due to the stricter teachers we have,
DRAMA have quite some changes.
Maybe to you all younglings,
you wont know.
Because its all too in depth.
That's why you all won't understand what we EXCO are facing.
and definitely, you won't understand this year's new EXCO's
problems and the pressure they faced or will face in time to come.
Not only do we have to try to understand junior's feelings
and yet get juniors to respect us without us being
like some fierce overlords,
but we also have to see teachers' moods and stuff.
OH, THE PRESSURE.
times have changed.
and will continue to change.
so what I can say to the new exco is
GOOD LUCK people, you WILL need it.
and to DRAMA,
don't be so rebellious, try not to piss your seniors too much.
but even if you do,
we still LOVE you guys.<33
its our job anyway. =)

so yup, that's all the advice i can give
since i'm not a good president and all.
and also because of experience,
in truth,
I never really listened to what SiHan said to me
before I became pres that time.
It takes experience for you to understand what the person is saying.
You have to literally step into that person's shoes and
walk around in it to really fully
comprehend what she's going through.
If you can't,
it all boils down to experience.
and then you learn.
and then after that then can you truly understand.
so sorry SIHAN! and thank you.=)

so right now, would like to start my
'THANK-YOUS!' speech.

Firstly, to DRAMA of course.
Thanks for all the memories that you guys have given me.
It might not be all lovely, merry and ho-ho cheery
but yes, all the experiences have definitely shaped me
into a different person.
and I will take all those lessons with me as
I toddle along the road of life.
I won't be who I am if not for Drama.

Shortest time spent with you.

AWESOME-NESS FUNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We ate the teabreak buffet untill we our stomachs were to burst.
We did illegal ~~'explicit'~~ things like
storing the sushi-which we only eat the ingredients-
BUT NOT THE RICE and place this uneaten rice into a plastic bag
produly sponsored by VENECIA!!!!!!
It was a disgusting sight with all the rice all stick together-all mushed up.
PHOTOS WILL BE PUT UP ON DRAMA BLOG VERY VERY SOON!
We are all nutsy people.
I think the people over at Changi Airport thinks
we are a buncha crazy people wearing yellow shirts.
All flashy and bling-bling!

But it was fun fun and nothing but fun!

-THIS WILL BE THE VOTING SESSION!
-EVERYONE will get the chance to vote [not referring to alumnis
unless misskhoo has given the 'go ahead' sign] not
only for president but also for the rest of the EXCO's post.
-We will collate the results and hand them to the teachers.
-Maybe, there will be a Q&A session where you ask the

ANYWAY,
here are some stuff i would like to say to the future leaders of AHS English Drama Club:

Yes, no doubt,
English Drama is not a very significant CCA in AHS.
It is not a very popular CCA either.
Neither is it a very respected CCA.

Maybe some of you guys have the idea of, oh let's change ED, we're gonna make everyone enthu and take ED to greater heights...
Yes, that is commendable.
Though i don't really want to 泼冷水, the truth must be told.

It is really really really difficult to change the ED culture within ONE YEAR, you can ask the sec fours now and they will second that.
I'm not saying that it is impossible, but it is very hard, and very rare.
Maybe you guys have a lot of dreams for ED now and many many many plans that you want to implement, i do caution you guys to evaluate on the possibilities of success and the practically of it.
Also, the key factor to successful leadership really lies in teamwork.
Hopefully the Executive Committee of 2009 will be bonded within itself... the worst scenario is internal strife and we don't want that.
Maybe you are the president but just as the saying goes, 三人行必有我师也, do try to learn from each other and value one another comments.
It sounds relatively easy now, but you will understand later that it isn't really.
Disagreements and strife will intrude but just as a 不倒翁 no matter how many times you try to push it down, it bounces back up. This is the highest level of teamwork.

I know I am like giving all the politically correct answers, but really, I hope you guys will think through what you want to achieve within this one year. Don't think of doing too many things like, make ED enthu, win all the competitions, get back cheering trophy, strengthen discipline etc.
Just focus on ONE AIM during this year and accomplish it.
It may not be a very vital or significant change like, make ED more bonded.
BUT, so long as you achieve it, that's fine.
If you think of doing this and that and that and this, sooooooo many things and end up doing nothing, at the end of the year, in the alumni photo album will be just a few lines of rubbish.

Sometimes, little things do matter.
Even just walking down the slope with ED-iots together, or just having lunch together as a CCA makes a difference.
So start small, start from the little little things.
You don't have to keep organizing camps to bond everyone, little things like studying together can really help.

A leader must remember who he is leading.
For example, you must understand that majority of the people who join English Drama are very drama mama and are (pardon me for putting it so crudely) attention seekers.
So, give them what they need.
They need to be heard, hear them.
They need to be seen, see them.
They need to be understood, understand them.
Know what your people want, and they will follow you loyally.

Actually, regardless of what post you get, you must be very clear WHY YOU WANT TO BE A LEADER.
is it to be popular?
is it for good cca records?
is it to be in control?
What i wanted, was to work together with ED-iots. I want to better understand them. I want to like encourage them. I want to serve them.
being a leader to me, isn't about being the 老大 or the 头.
to me it was more like, I'm doing the most saikang. haha.
like in ancient battles, the commando will chiong in front of his army, die also die first.
same theory, leader everything also kenna, not your fault ALSO your fault.
someone do something wrong, everyone blame you.
not only within the CCA, other AHS people know you CCA leader sometimes also buay song you.
like walau eh, like that also can be leader ah?

I'm not trying to scare you all away.
But just giving you guys mental preparation for this upcoming journey ahead.
Don't think just oh i got my post, the end.
HELLO, ITS ONLY THE BEGINNING!
it's not going to be easy balancing school work (sec three sucks, i know i've been there) (JC sucks even more) and CCA and friends.
You lose some you gain some.
It depends on what you put first, really.
For me, my L1R5 was 30+ when i first became president, HAHAHA.
but it got better.
so be prepared for all the emotional, physical, mental, social, whatever stress that is ahead.
and one word to sum up all that i have said:
PERSEVERE!

to the three candidates (by alphabetical order) (i really hope you all read this):
CHELSEA
personally i feel you need to interact with ED-iots more. I've worked with you during the National Drama Competition and i feel that you are a very outspoken and determined person. You know what you want. That is a good point of yours in that you voice out what you want to do, what you think should be changed, you have your own mindset. But do be careful not to be too dominant, and to listen out for your fellow ED-iots. Yes, you are a very friendly and sociable person, but your bond with ED-iots should go way below "hi" and "bye" or just friends. Maybe going down deeper in terms of relationship with ED members will be beneficial, i don't know. I'm just basing this on my limited experience working with you, and in this case is already long out-dated. BUT, you do have council and i hope you realise that it's going to be challenging to balance so many things. Time-management skills will be needed. However the case, I am confident you will be a confident leader with drive and purpose. JIAYOU.

JOVYNE
in my humble opinion, i think you are a very rational person. (i'm so sorry i sound like a fortune teller) anyway, you must realise that ED-iots are a bunch of mainly crazy people, so do get into the same wave length as them. And you are a very hardworking person, sometimes the silent laborer of ED. You like chelsea, need to be more attached to ED people. Get out of your comfort zone and start making more friends. I know its like sooo wierd that you just go up to some ulu person and start talking, I've been in that spot before. But that's how bonds are formed. So don't be afraid of getting embarrassed, GO ALL OUT FOR IT. if you want it bad enough, you will go for it hard enough. you go girl.

KOK WEE
I LIKE PLAYING CARD GAMES WITH YOU. apart from that, i think you should have your own stand more. sometimes you tend to just follow the crowd in fear of failing to please. A leader must have a mind of his own so do have your own opinions! others do matter but you must set they stage first then let them comment on it. Other than that, i think you are a very sociable and popular person within the cca, be it with guys or girls, that is your advantage. But do be careful on your weaknesses, because a president is like 皇帝 every word he says is like 圣旨. So don't be tooooo flexible, you have to have your limits. i know i'm another person who doesnt get angry, don't be like me. when you need to, do discipline the cca (though it's the discipline master/vp's job) you also have to help. remember that ED is not looking for someone who goes along with them, ED is not looking for a politically correct person, ED is not looking for a people-pleaser. BUT ed is looking for a daring, purposeful, yet humble leader.

in keeping sec3s personal choices as confidential.
If so, I can infer from your biasness and tone that
you are probably quite a good friend [possible even an admirer]
of Chelsea, so I shall leave it to you
to consult her on her preferences of posts.
She IS a good potential candidate, I assure you nonetheless.
I discussed with her about the potential chances of her
taking the lead, her ambitions however do not match
up to your expectations.
But there are also various factors to consider.

For example, it IS PRECISELY the fact that
she is an SC, that is one of the off-side.
Being an SC and in near future, maybe the president
of EDC, she has to juggle council duties
[for all you know, she might have an important post
in Council.], president's
responsibilities and her studies,
I am sure, being a good friend of hers, would surely
want the best for her and not let her be dragged down
by all this heavy burdens.
Picture the scenario, please.

Yes, indeed there are many possible
candidates that can lead DRAMA to
higher ground and etc. for which
I absolutely agree.
But besides leadership qualities,
there is also the ENTHUSIASM part.
There are people who are potentially good
but because they lack the drive and passion for Drama,
and sometimes tend to place other priorities
before Drama [exclusive of academics]
such as various other commitments like
piano lessons, art lessons and such.
That is where the 'cut-off' point is, dearies.

And yes, elections should be held.
But please bear this in mind
that the teachers command a higher
authority than me and the the rest of EXCO members,
and this canceling of elections is
NOT OUR IDEA AT ALL.
It was the teachers, as I had mentioned in my previous post.
But I will try to persuade them to change their mind
but my power is limited, as all of you know.

Also, the part where alumnis should vote.
The day of voting of course I would invite all the ALUMNIS
[If I am able to persuade the teachers to have the voting
session, if not, it will be just step-down date.]
But we will only take into consideration
the ALUMNI's votes of those who turn up
on that day if a voting session can be held
and not others, sending sms or via msn
will not change the votes as there might be
a chance that we suposedly manipulate the results.
SEC4s do trust each other or the whole EDC might
trust us, but not the teachers.

As shown at the previous experience
where Misskhoo did not allow us sec4s
to take the newly-made EDC storeroom key
to dupilcate it, afraid that we would lose it
despite her being too busy to duplicate
the key herself.
By the way,
DRAMA STOREROOM'S DOOR LOCK IS FIXED.
we just need the darn key.

Ladies and gentelemen of EDC.

Well, well. Here's some really tragic news for all those who love drama to bits.
THERE IS NO DRAMA MARCH CAMP this year.
Sad? Devastated? Miserable? Angry? Unfairness gripping your heart?
So why don't we have it?
There are many reasons for which i will let you noe no
the rationale behind this verdict.

Firstly,
our dearly beloved sec2s are off to China[except for a few stray cats.]
so practically 1/4 of our drama is gone.
Secondly,
the sec4s have tutorials-not that we can help it.
Some have it on Mondays, some have it on Thursdays or even Fridays.
So, we cannot have march camp.
Thirdly,
the school does not allow us to have overnight camps and so
not many people will want to come back to school if the camp is 2days.
*who wants to climb the darn hill on holidays just for camp?*

Unable to have March camp.
Sorry juniors especially the sec1s as we are unable to uphold
our drama tradition of having an annual camp proudly
headed by each batch.
Sorry alumnis especially
the super enthu ones [e.g. Sihan] as we cannot have camps
not because we are too lazy to organise it but because of all the
following reasons above.

However, do not be too overwhelmed by grief,
sec4s WILL organise something at the end of this year or maybe in June
to commemorate Drama Night and invite back the alumnis
to have a sorta-2nd-farewell due to our previous disastrous attempt
last year.

hello my favourite ediots,

i'm in the same school as Jiong Rui and i met him before going for assembly this morning... we were just talking and i realised, I HAVENT BEEN BACK TO ENGLISH DRAMA like since i left. that's like... omg. before i left i thought i will like... come back every week or something. and now, 1 and a half months have passed and, oh darn, this is bad.

well, so im here to send my love from MJC! since valentines day is round the corner, im thinking about all the moments ive spent wrapping the valentines gift i gave all of you last year, if you still remember. hahaha, oh gosh, too many memories! okay, for this valentines day im still happily single and... i still love AHS ENGLISH DRAMA. though im not in drama now, as some of you know, im in meridian sailing, but my heart still stays with you guys, aww. so hopefully hopefully, i will get out of my busy-fied days and go back for a peek. darn, i really want to.

with regards to why no camp:

well, let me, answer that burning question.
It is apparently the rule implemented by the school that
ALL PERFORMING ARTS CCA GROUPS
CANNOT HAVE OVERNIGHT CAMPS
AT ALL.

But why? or so you ask.
blame the school, moreover blame the affluent society of today.
It is due to the over-protectiveness of some parents (or so i heard)
that felt that their beloved child/ward have been staying in overnight camps
far too long and are wary of the security measures that have been implememented
to protect their children's study and living environment and decides
lodge a complain.
Apparently, the 2 security guards cannot spend their holiday taking care
of us. Sadly.
Then again, maybe not.
WHO KNOWS?!
or maybe THEY just love to introduce measures to make our life more
miserable than it already is.
Aren't we the ones paying THEIR salary here?
So doesn't this count as us being the employers?
WHY IS THE WORLD SO UNFAIR THESE DAYS??!!!!

But anyway, we sec4s are planning a march day camp
that most probably will spread over 2-3 days

so after the quite satisfactory entree of new sec1s.
we managed to fill up 11/12 of places.
7 girls and 4 guys.

We got many stuff cleared out especially admin stuff.

only left final edition by Chermaine, 1 of our instructors.
People, PRAY that the instructor can get us another script,

Hopefully, he can make it. PRAY.

Victoria Secondary's auditorium
is not really what we want when we went to view
it after Friday's audition.
The seatings and all, about 365 seats &
the front row was too near the stage.
too risky if we want special effects, audience can see it all.
Plus VJC also very expensive ya so not much choice.
and Miss Khoo want somewhere in the East side,
understandably as it is MORE convenient.

Drama will be separated into CAST AND CREW.
but please do NOT think that just because you are in crew,
you can slack.
LOADS AND LOADS of stuff for you guys to do.
Banners, selling tickets,
making props like elaborate backdrops and certain equipments.
Also the positioning of props, sound, music &
backstage management.

ok maybe you are wondering now, hello? she is the EX pres... it isnt even hey business like.. keyword: EX. well, you may think that way. but i still care for ed! and not only myself, the many alumnis who sacrificed their super duper fun orientation just to go down to cheer you guys on ytd.

and hey, i didnt even plead them to go. i just sent them a msg w/o even the details of the timing to them, telling them if they are free, try to make it to give you all moral support. so, this shows that though, we have left english drama, this cca still stays in our heart and we still love it ok?

so guys, we are concerned about all of you!

its not a matter of whether who's bigger in cca.. the current pres or the ex pres or whatever. but its just that we miss you guys! and we really enjoyed our moments here in this cca, thats why we want you guys to enjoy it too! and its not a matter of who's responsible or whose business isit. we are just purely concerned about you guys!

so this year, i wanna see more work, no more messing around
and some potential which i didnt see last year.

okay less bull crap, here's a list of what's gonna happen
or already is gonna happen this year.
As you guys very well no, that this year is our DRAMA NIGHT.
something that never happen before,
so i want commitment and commitment and more commitment.

here's a list of what's gonna happen for january 2008:

2nd jan:
REHEARSAL FOR THOSE INVOLVED IN THE SEC1 ORIENTATION.
TIME: Straight after school.
VENUE: Meet at canteen.
*URGENCY PLEASE. THE ACTUAL DAY IS ON FRIDAY 4TH JAN.

3rd jan:
COMBINED REHEARSAL WITH THE OTHER CCAS. (Its
already pretty rushed and all, since by this time, we should all be
totally prepared which we most probably arent. )
TIME: 3pm after school. (Timing will be changed, depending on
what time school ends, we'll straightaway practice and not wait till 3pm)
VENUE: Hall. But if we're meeting earlier, it'll be a diff place.
[Changes will be notified]
*note: SEC4S TO TURN UP TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR THESE PEOPLE!>.<

4th jan:
OFFICIAL SHOWCASE AKA SEC1 ORIENTATION PLAY'08.
*NOTE: Sec4s [those who turned up on 3rd jan only] and
sec1 orientation people involved allowed to leave class
around 11. Exact timing will be informed.

5th jan: (Sec4s involved only)
HOPEFULLY, miss khoo calls the schools
and sec4s WE'RE TO check out the possible venues
for our outside school performance AND have a meeting
to get our script done.

6th jan: (Sec4s involved only)
Hopefully, we get to meet up with the instructors to beg them
for a script for our ungrateful juniors [i'm just kidding, just kidding.]
and cut short the training sessions and check out our script.
SEC4 MEETING after that.

11th jan: (Sec4s and some selected sec3s involed)
SEC1 AUDITION TO GET INTO OUR CCA!!!!X))))
Some sec3s will be involved. details and names will be given.

12th jan: (Sec4s involved only)
Meeting and hopefully a concrete script for us to do role casting
and script reading. [Referring to OUR OWN SCRIPT, not juniors]

14th jan:
OFFICIAL CCA DAY. ALL DRAMA MEMBERS TO TURN UP.
Timing will be the same as usual as the prev year.
3pm. grace period 15 min. unless, school timing change.
i repeat.
OFFICIAL CCA DAY. ALL TO TURN UP. ALL ARE
INVOLVED. THIS IS THE DAY WHEN CCA STARTS.

English Drama SYF 2007. we got bronze !!

SYF ppl there's no need to blame urself or anything. i think u all did a great job ! U all haf all tried ur best ! Thx for all e time spent on e SYF !

Thought bronze might not be veri gd but we could all see e effort put in. tats enough. Looking on the bright side getting bronze is also not too bad. at least we won't get any lower. (dun talk bout cop) It also means that its veri easy for us to improve n there is a big room for improvement :D
EDC sure can get better during e nxt SYF !

Btw i think tat how gd or successful a cca is is not determined by a gold or silver or bronze tat a cca gets, judged by some ppl hu haf onli watch us perform for a few min. but, is determined by e hearts of e cca members.
